SIL pain killer use??

Anonymous
I was at my brother's house for a dinner party Thursday evening with some mutual friend (3 other couples with kids all the same age; 1 is my husband's coworker). I started my period and needed a tampon desperately, so while I was in the upstairs bathroom I looked under the sink and inside the box of tampons I found a prescription bottle of Hydrocodone that had only 2 pills in in it.

Even weirder was that the name on the bottle was not my brother's or SIL's but of another mutual friend; my husband's coworker's wife.
I thought later that ever since my SIL had her C-section (5 months ago?) that she's had more doctors appointment than I had after giving birth to my DS.

How should I handle this situation? I am concerned about my brother and my SIL and the implications this possible abuse may have for their marriage. DH says to mind my own business. I don't like how his coworker's wife may be sharing her medication illegally.

forget you ever saw that. go on with your life.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Definitely say something before the situation gets out of control. Is she a SAHM or is DB the breadwinner?

I think MYOB - if the truth that will set you free is inside a tampon box, leave the truth locked up.

As someone who works in law enforcement I can guarantee that having a prescription does not belong to you for Schedule III narcotics it's a serious offense. Would you feel worse if you didn't say something and your brother and sister-in-law lost custody of their children? Tell her to get help now before the addiction gets out of control. You also may want to consider going to a family drug support group for addicts and sharing your story to get additional input from others who have been in similar situations.

Wow, 23:00 has surely jumped to a big conclusion without knowing a single fact other than a bottle was seen in the house. The OP has no idea if there is even an addiction in the family for which she should be getting support!

MYOB.

Thanks I'll be here all night.

Or at least for the last 3 ounces of my wine glass.

You should have never helped yourself to any of the bathroom cabinets under any circumstances. Like Confucious said, if you found it in a tampon box just leave it.
