I am 22 weeks and I have a terrible cough that is keeping me up at night and making me puke occasionally in the morning. The LOVELY receptionist at the doc's office told me all I can take is cough drops...not alot of help at night. DOes anyone have any other ideas about this? I don't know how much I trust the receptionist. |
Call back and ask to speak to the nurse or the doctor. My dr gave us an informational kit that listed what meds were ok to take. |
My doctors (Reiter and Hill) say you can take Robitussin. |
Ask if you can take Tylenol with codeine (Tylenol 3) or a prescription cough syrup with codeine. Effective and safe. |
You probably don't need anything this strong. I'd also call back and ask your nurse/dr. Our dr also gave us a lengthy list of OTC products that can be taken during pg. Robitussin sounds right, as pp mentioned, but just check with your dr. They usually have a list they can give you. |
PP here- I was looking for some information on an insurance claim and ran across the paper list my dr gave me (currently 6m pg with #2) and Robitussin was on the list. |
One tip - from someone who did this by accident - my dr. told me I could take tylenol cold, sudafed, etc. Be sure you buy the right one - usually the ones that are now behind the counter at the pharmacy. I bought the one out in the store and (of course, after I took it) I googled it and it was not what I should be taking. Argh. Just in case this turns into more of a cough.
I think with the Robitussin it is fine but one kind is better than the other - try to google. |
