I have been breastfeeding for the past 4 months and am planning to do it for the next 8 months or so...I have been loosing a looooooooooooooot of hair. I know, I know they tell you don'y worry you will not get bold but I'm quite worry; my hair are about half of the before breastfeeding. Any advice? Help please |
It's not related to breastfeeding. Your body stopped shedding hair so much while pregnant and now it is shedding that stored up hair. There's nothing you can do but wait it out. |
I agree with the PP. That happens to everyone, regardless of breastfeeding. It doesn't last too long. I'm 9 months postpartum and I have a lot of new hair growth now. Around 4-5 months I was clogging the shower drain with all my lost hair. |
Agree with previous posts. Hormonal changes that resulted in your having excellent hair during pregnancy are reversed now. It will stop soon. I had a friend with the most beautiful hair in the world, and she was shedding lots of hair after pregnancy. HOwever, it stopped, and she looks great now...
Good luck! |
How long does the hair loss usually last? Mine started at 5 months and is still going at 6. |
I'm about 4 months PP and having the same problem. I've heard it lasts for a few months. I'm about to go cut all of my hair off...

Mine lasted for months. And yes, happens to everybody, regardless of breastfeeding. I think it was over by 1 year.
Supposedly it's all the extra hair you had during pregnancy -- your hair doesn't fall out much at all while you're pregnant, and then once the hormones fade, bam, out comes all that extra hair in scary gobs. But don't worry. It stops and your hair will look fine. |
Mine stopped by the time DS was about 9 months. |
