Parts of Silver Spring already go to BCC. The area east of Grubb and the subsidized apartment buildings on East-West Highway. I paid less for my house in the Silver Spring part of BCC than my sister paid for her house in Woodside/Einstein. |
You sound really sensitive about this topic. You literally paid a premium to live where you live because you think the kids where you live are better than the kids where I live and want your kid to be around the "better" kids. I have good friends that have made similar choices. They are lovely, kind people - probably the kindest I know. They didn't make these choices out of malice, but that doesn't mean racism doesn't play a role in their choices. |
just as racism played a role in your choices of where to live. no one in the suburbs of DC can reasonably claim that racism didn't play a role in where they live. |
Well yes but it is 2025 and MoCo has changed a lot demographically since the days of White flight. DCC schools are majority Black and Brown. If you look for houses that have sold under $600k in the DC region you will find much more in the suburbs, including eastern Montgomery County and Prince George's County, than you will in DC. |
Very good point. Yang and Silvestre have no business on the county council if they vote to approve this. |
+100. I’m only going to vote them if they have the bone to reject the regional model |
Let’s flood their inboxes with that message! |
