Other than the power to arrest, all their gear paid for, a free car, free gas and qualified immunity like the Mayor and Governor. The workers at Dunkin, Starbucks and WaWa like to give them free coffee too. |
I forgot free car washes. They get overtime too. |
Wow anyone see the video of the attack by police on members of Congress? Masked gunman throws a congress member in to another “law enforcement” agent. Now they are charging the congress member with assault.
The congress member was trying to inspect a private contracted ICE facility- ie on official congressional business. Guess they must be doing some horrific things in this black site. $2 billion no bid contract. What are they doing in there? |
We get it, you’re a dumb retired pensioned cop sitting on your ass posting on the internet all day. |
I have a brain. |
TIL that Congressman have unlimited authority to inspect public and private properties under the guise of "official business." |
They do, It is written in to all funding bills and is the contract agreement that private companies sign. It is called oversight. |
Was it Newark PD? |
It already does. Their union supplies a lawyer, not the department. And union dues pay for the lawyer. I bet it’s the same for teachers. |
I will answer my own question - looks like it was ICE agents, not Newark PD. Not fair to lump all “law enforcement” together. |
Cite? Because Congress still has Constitutional limits with respect to private property. https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/354/178/ Imagine a Congressman claiming oversight for your home because you have a Fanny Mae or Freddie Mac home loan. |
Well, we all know that ICE agents were probably hired by some podunk locality that doesn't do enough training, |
To clarify, I'm suggesting that governments should ensure that teachers get benefits as good as police officers. I'm not saying that's how it is. Conservatives love police unions and often straight-up prohibit teachers' unions. |
I’m curious what benefits you think officers get that teachers don’t. I’m in LE and have friends who are teachers in my city and our packets are quite similar. Police pensions and teacher pensions have been done away with for new hires, but I will receive a pension and my teacher friends will, too. But neither new hires colleagues of ours will. Other than that, we receive the same insurance benefits, and the teachers actually receive more paid time off. |
