What suppositions do you think I’m basing my vote on?

It's an election about the future. You are basing it on what you think will happen. Same as what you just made an accusation about as if it's wrong to make future predictions. We need to wait and see to judge why? I don't have any other knowledge today than I did yesterday about these people. Do you not understand that you also did not vote based on actual knowledge of the future?

It actually is a strategy to elect people to cancel each other out and not let them go further in one direction. It's why the house and senate often are opposing parties or why the president is often an opposing party to the congress.

I bet E3 and SBG has a much profound change on the landscape for students than any change that would have been brought about by having one or two people of another party.

There is not a single SB member who doesn't value academics. Why do you keep holding up what YOU believe to be true about the candidates and then thinking we must not care about those things. I have a PhD--I most definitely care about academics--and I voted Democrat because I think they will do better all around, even on academics.

DP. I believe that all of the old school board members values education. But their changes, their well intentioned efforts to help, to bring up the low performing kids, are not helpful for any students.

You’re exaggerating.

Some ES and a few MS. A few HS courses.

Please let my son know that there is no homework in high school so he can stop doing the 2-3 hours of it he has every night with studying…he will be thrilled

Well he can. He can even come to school tardy without an issue or he can just skip school altogether. With SBG his assessment grades will replace his practice grades as if they never existed. Since you know him better, please tell him the good news.

The school board isn’t even partisan.

I understand that cognitive dissonance is hard, but you’re almost there. Keep working through it and come to the realization that those strongly held views you hold about the schools are fringe and out of step with mainstream voters.

According to what evidence?

Moving to a red state is what Dems did to California and Virginia, and with all the well-meaning in the world kept coming and kept voting Dem.

We are not as far along as California and just like California, some of us are rich enough not to *have* to care as much about the state of the public schools.

Working off of platforms/plans is a reasonable way to think about the future.

Working off of hysterical fantasies is not. PP was addressing the sky-is-falling posters.

How did California get rid of Algebra in 7th without Silicon Valley having a fit? Where is Amazon and the government on all of these changes to education around here?

Bringing up the low-performing kids . . . is bad? Better to keep them down?

You have problems with reading comprehension.

PP clearly typed that their efforts to help are sincere but not working.
