Gelato Panna e Amarene

Anonymous
My favorite memory of Italy on our honeymoon was Amarena gelato from the Piaza in Rome. Has anyone tried making their own gelato? Anyone have a great recipe or tips for an Italian-day dreamer here?
Thanks so much.

I had pineapple cilantro yesterday. Refreshingly delicious!

You can buy Amarena cherries on Amazon. They come in a delectable syrup (very cherry tasting, no fakey) that you can dribble over ice cream. DH uses the cherries for his Manhattans and then we find other uses (not hard) for the syrup.

Thanks for the suggestion PP! My husband made the recipe above and it was DELICIOUS. The cherries were a bit too sweet though (we used frozen from grocery store) but good

The best gelato I had (outside of Italy) was in Fels Point.

I googled it and found they have other locations:

I'd call them to see if they have this flavor.
