You went to a big Midwestern state school and moved to DC b/c of your husband's job and have found a real community in your neck of Northern Virginia. You decided to stay home after kid#2 and now devote a lot of time to the PTAs of both the elementary and preschools at which your kids attend. Although ou secretly wish you could afford to send your kids to DC privates. Your husband is home by 7 pm every night and takes the kids to the playground on Sunday mornings while you clean and do errands. You drive a navy blue Odyssey. |

Ok, I am new around here. Currently pregnant. I have not spent ANY of time with my friends discussing baby names now or in the past. I don't know what's trendy and really don't care about the top 100 names on the SS list or top 100 girl/boy of DC. So I am asking this question really because I don't understand why all folks talk so bad about folks who choose the trendy name. If someone likes the trendy name, why are they considered not "very bright"? I am naming my son David after DH, who was named after his father. I don't think it is trendy, but because it is very traditional and I guess common. Are DC folks going to think I'm not very bright because of such a common name choice? Not that I care, I'm just wondering why people make such comments. Honest question. What name choice signifies that you are very bright? |
This is an excellent question. I'd be interested to hear the unkind PP's response. |
You are religious. You are Jewish. You like a theme and after Michael was born, you decided that all subsequent children must have -el endings. Nate is Nathaniel. If he's just Nate, that's just wrong. |
