We are doing our first IVF at SG and just got the approval.
My protocol includes- Lupron, Bravelle, Menopur, and Ganirelx. I called UHC and they told me they only Lupron was covered....I thought I read that Optum had great coverage. Any idea on what I can expect the total cost to be from Freedom Fertility? I know it depends on dosage, I am only a low dose for the Bravelle (75iu) and I think the same for Menopur. |

We did IVF with MDIPA at SG. The issue is that you don't get the meds through their pharmacy program. Don't even call the people there - they have no clue. I assume your approval letter says all meds are covered?
The reason the pharmacy people say Lupron is covered is that it's not only a fertility medication. But your other meds are covered as well, they just don't know that. Get directly in touch with Freedom (your SG nurse should send the prescription there), and they will get the approval. Make it clear to them that you have UHC-MDIPA (not just UHC). There was a hang-up with my meds because they missed the MDIPA part, but it was resolved quickly. Good luck! |
| Very cheap. Only a couple of hundred dollars. I had a lot of drugs and the total was around $350. When I switched to Aetna (had to) the drugs cost were between $5000 - $6000. With MDIPA you can use Freedom pharmacy. Good luck. |
