Adult Children of Alcoholics or other support groups

Anyone tried a local group? Feedback? Or advice on group support outlets (women/moms,etc.)? Thanks in advance.

I used to go to Al-anon when I was younger. My mother has suggested going back now as an adult, she still goes from time to time, even though my dad hasn't had a drink in 20 years this April. The damage was still done, and sometimes still needs to be worked through.

I don't know what's available in the area, but I think its important to find support groups. Even 8 1/2 years after my mom died I still find the need to connect to others who went through similar things.
