My sister is coming to visit this week from the West Coast to meet her new nephew (my son). She's on redeye flight into Dulles arriving at 6AM, but since neither DH nor I are up to an early morning jaunt out to Dulles, she said she's fine taking a shuttle of some sort.
What's a reasonably fast (but also reasonably inexpensive) way to get to S. Arlington from Dulles? Perhaps something that could take her to National Airport (we live 5 mins from National)? TIA! ![]() |
I think there's a bus to the East Falls Church Metro (someone correct me if that isn't true) |
To the PP-I think you're right. Check out the Washington Flyer's website. The bus is very comfortable. |
OP here -- thanks very much, PPs. But is there anything where my sis wouldn't have to take multiple forms of transportation (ie, bus and metro). Ideally, does anyone know of a bus or car service that goes directly from Dulles to National? |
What if you picked her up in EFC?
Can you spring for a cab? $60 from Dulles to your house - if that. |
Thanks for the responses, everyone!
We could theoretically spring for a cab, but I really don't want to if I don't have to (only 1 income right now). Could pick her up at EFC, I guess, but a main reason for one of us not driving to pick her up was not to have to get out of bed so early and drive for a while when we've got a new baby and we're exhuausted (DH thinks it would be a 20-minute drive from our house to EFC at that hour). I saw on the Super Shuttle site that she could take a shuttle door-to-door for only $26 (no reservation required). Does anyone have any experience with Super Shuttle from Dulles? Would she have to wait a long time at the airport while they filled the van, and then have to wait while they drop everyone off? |
PP here:
The wait can be minutes, or VERY VERY LONG. In my experience, there's no predicting. Plus, there may be other folks in the car with her, which could add a lot of time to the trip. |
I live in S. Arlington, and I take the Super Shuttle every time i need to go to Dulles, it is $26, and for me its usually an hour ride. |
OP here -- thanks to everyone for your help. My sis arrived this AM, and it took about an hour and fifteen minutes from when her plane landed until she was at our door. Super Shuttle was $26, and she was the only one in the van. Not too bad! Now the poor thing is sleeping off the effects of the redeye flight. ![]() |
