| I am new to fcps system. I am wondering how ESOL service is provided in elementary schools. Do they put ESOL kids to a separate class? Or mix them with native English speakers in the same class and pull out one or two hours a day to learn English? Or does it depend on which school you go to? |

Short answer is that it depends on their classification, which is their level of need. Some ESL teachers push in to the classrooms as well as doing pull outs. |
| ESOL teacher here. It is school-specific. Depends on how many kids need services and what level those kids are at. I've never seen a separate class just for ESOL kids that provided only ESOL services in elementary school, but I have seen a class where all kids spoke English as a second language (some fluently or well enough that they didn't qualify for ESOL services), and that class was team-taught full-time by a regular teacher and an ESOL teacher. |
