Parents of AAP students - recommendation for doctors that "get" gifted kids?

Anonymous
DC is in AAP and has ADHD with anxiety. We are seeking someone in the metro area (ideally a psychiatrist and social worker/therapist) that understands gifted kids. (DC is already on medication for ADHD.)

Any recommendations? We are in Vienna but will travel for the right person.

Depending on what you're looking for, Moshe Shtuhl (therapist) and Dan Dinsmore (neurofeedback) of Family Compass in Reston (near the post office) worked well for our AAP/ADHD kid.

Moshe Shtuhl is excellent.

For my very bright son with ADHD, we use INOVA Kellar Center in Fairfax (close to Fair Oaks Mall). We use Dr. Tewari (psychiatrist) for monthly medicine renewals and Dr. Mallik (PsyD, I think) for weekly therapy. We are VERY impressed with both of them. And a bonus is that they accept most insurance, a rarity in the psychology field.

Thank you!

13:25, I'd like to follow up on your recommendations. I've been desperate to find a recommended therapist who also takes insurance!

Does Dr. Mallik work through the Inova Keller Center? I didn't find any listing on their website but there is a Jharna Mallik on Waples Mill Rd.
