Does blanched almond flour cook differently than ground up almonds?

Anonymous
I'm looking at various grain free recipes and see a lot use blanched almond flour. I just throw a bunch of almonds in the food processor when I need to make grain free pancakes but I'm looking to start baking. Does the blanching process make a difference in the consistency? I don't want to buy a $35 bag of almond flour.

I don't know the answer--BUT I bought a package of Bob's red mill almond meal from Yes market for ... well, I can't remember, but not $35. Less than $5.
