What is the best OPK to get?

Anonymous
I've been using the CBE pee strips that detect the LH surge, but am not getting pregnant. I need something better. Can some people please weigh in and let me know what you think is the best product to detect ovulation currently on the market?

I'm doing is misearble job of temping. After 4 months you would think I could be consistent by now.

I use the Clearblue Easy Fertility monitor. It is a little more money, but I think it a little bit more accurate.
Good Luck!

Me too. I love clearblue...and I prefer the OPK that shows the little "smile face" when it detects a LH surge. This way there is "no error"..lol

Clearblue Easy digital is the best OPK.
If you are not getting pregnant, it might not be due to the OPK but to something else. There are many reasons why one might not get pregnant that have nothing to do with detecting ovulation...Also, it takes time to get pregnant, if you have only been trying for 4 months, there is no reason to worry at this point...

I just used the pee sticks but my OB suggested that I test twice a day -- first thing in the morning as well as later in the afternoon/early evening.

To add to what PP just said, I want to say that for me my positive results are always in the evenings so don't just test in the morning.

you really should be temping too -- i would have sevearl LH surges with positive OPKs a few days or week apart (positive for a few days in a row, negative for a few days and then positive again). but, as i was temping too i could tell i wasn't actually ovulating. i have PCO and after a couple months of this when i met with the RE and told him what i thought was going on, he was easily able to confirm with a sono -- you could literally see the folicles that were building up around my ovaries and not realeasing a mature egg.

anyway -- my 2 cents but in my case, opk alone is waste of time, money and pee!

Another tip from my OB: try not to turn this into a science experiment -- and if you feel you must, then by all means keep the minutiae to yourself and try to shield you husband from the stress. When couples have trouble conceiving, 40% of the time it's a problem with the wife -- but 40% of the time it's a problem for the husband (the other 20% is a big question mark). Stress can have a dramatic impact on a man -- not just his ability to do the deed, but in terms of the quality (not quantity) of the sperm. So, by all means test and take your temp -- but not in front of your husband -- and try to initiate things without telling him why (don't even mention the word ovulate).

About temping: are you temping on fertility friend? If you save your temps on www.fertilityfriend.com (it's free), they have a software that will automatically detect for you when you ovulated and what your coverline is.

i temped on fertility friend (BEST SITE EVER!!! they will do it all for you and it's FREE!!! you can pay for the whistles and bells though if you buy a VIP membership). i also purchased OPK strips in bulk from earlypregnancytests.com you can buy a 100 pack for like 30 bucks or something and pee as much as you like.

i have friends who swear by the clearblue easy fertility monitor too. not cheap but you can find good used ones on craigslist or ebay.

I second the recommendation of earlypregnancytests.com and fertilityfriend.com. I know my doctor took my struggle more seriously when I could show her my records. (I think some doctors think women don't get pregnant bc they have bad timing and aren't really aware of our cycles.)
