Does patent leather stretch?

I just bought some Cole Haans and wore them around my house only. Apparently my house is a little dirtier than I thought b/c now the soles look worn and I don't think I can return them.
They fit well, except the toe box is a little tight. I have shoe stretchers, but had thought that patent leather didn't stretch. Is that true? If I could stretch them just a tad, things would be perfect. Or, will they stretch on their own after wearing them more? |

| It's possible, but I would take it to a cobbler. Patent can crack if over heated or over stretched. |

| I would use the shoe stretchers and see if that makes a difference. |
