We're looking into signing up for a class, and I know about Bradley (too many classes for us) and Hypnobirthing. Does anyone know or have experience with any other programs? We've selected a doula and will make contact with her soon. Thanks!! |
There is Birthworks, which I think combines principles of Bradley and other approaches and is not 12 weeks like Bradley. But I don't know too much more about it. |
Beth Youmans is a retired Bradley instructor who offers a condensed, 4 session natural childbirth class. Her website is http://naturalbirthwithconfidence.com/index.html. Susan Messina is a Birthworks instructor who offers a 9 session class and an intensive weekend class: http://www.susanmessina.com/index.html. |
this website also has a list of a bunch of the local childbirth educators: http://www.birthoptionsalliance.org/ I'm sure you could contact any of htem directly for more information. |
Birth Works is a good one, but is 8 evening classes (not as many as bradley, but still a lot). There is a local class in NW DC that is taught by Susan Messina, and she does the 8 session program but also has a condensed 6 hour weekend version. If you google her name you'll find her website. |
