Private & Independent Schools
| Sigh. |
| You can still apply without going on a tour/open house. If your child is accepted, I'm sure there is some sort of parent/family event that you'll be invited to before enrollment decisions have to be made. That will give you a chance to meet teachers, administrators, current parents, other accepted parents. Probably won't get a chance to see the school in action with kids in the classrooms though. Still, I wouldn't worry. |
| I think you want to get Part I of the application in ASAP with or without the tour so that you can get a parent interview. |
| So much for applications being down this year! |
| Yeah, people will be cautious with vacations and clothing and eating out, but I doubt apps will go down too much in Washington. The only place I can see it possibly being affected is maybe in NY where all those bankers are out of work. |
| Are any other schools "sold out"? |
Not a direct corelation. We are doing the tour before election day and we know that there is a 99% chance that we will wait until next year to apply. Some people do the tours to decide it they want to apply. |
| So if Obama wins, you will not apply, but if McCain wins, you will? |
Wow, that must really annoy the people who are sure they want to apply but didn't get a spot. |
No you idiot, the day before election day is the day of the tour I was referring to. |
| Lucky Sidwell to have such gracious applicants. |
I don't think so. Sidwell has a very early application deadline this year so I'm not surprised that the tours are filled. Other schools have January and February deadlines, so more time to offer more tours Good news for those not able to get a tour is that at least Sidwell doesn't require it as part of the application process. Other schools like Maret, GDS, Beauvoir do or they *highly* encourage it like WIS and Norwood. |
