How do you protect baby's knees while crawling on hardwood floor?

Anonymous
hi everyone,

My twin boys (very active!!) started crawling a lot and parts of our apartment is just hardwood floor. Their knees are all red and bruised every day. Do you guys know of a solution for this? What did you do when this happened to your babies? I am thinking, I should have them wear soe kind of knee protector.....

Thanks!

Honestly, if they are fine with it I wouldn't worry.

And now that your boys are moving expect them to be bruised for the next few years. What's worse is when they start walking and hitting corners of things with their heads. Aye Caramba!

Agree with the PP! My 3 yo DS always seems to end up with bruises. If it doesn't bother them, don't stress about it. Remember too that they don't weigh too much yet, so not a lot of weight on their knees.

I don't.

But people who do often do BabyLegs or some sort of cheaper version of baby leggings.

I don't. They just deal. Babies are short - they're not falling far.

I wouldn't - it encourages walking to not protect the knees

They do make baby kneepads, although I would think those would be more useful on carpet to protect from rug burns.

If the babies aren't complaining, I wouldn't worry about it.

We took some baby socks (we had a bunch of extra), cut out the toes, and then used them as knee pads/covers.

We didn't do anything. My son just crawled all over the place, and it didn't bother him one bit. Babies are made to do this.

I didn't do anything for wood floors. If they're fine with it, don't worry about it. I did what PP did -- cut the toes out of socks and use those as knee pads -- when I let them crawl around on our building's paved patio area.

We didn't do anything. They were fine. If it does seem to bother them, you can put them in pants.

i wrap my son in bubble wrap.....

sorry i coudn't resist.

kids don't seemed to be bothered by it. My kid will crawl on concrete. it is crazy.

It looks painful but never bothered my boys (hardwood floors here too). Good parenting rule: if they're not complaining, don't intervene.

In Sweden they have excellent padded crawling pants, very popular there and also Made in Sweden.
