| It is abundantly clear from the BOE questions/comments to the program analysis that they 100% will approve whatever Taylor recommends. That ship has sailed. |
The question is will the county council give more funding or what will they cut to make it work. When voting, especially for the county council remember those switching from the BOE to County Council are not putting MCPS and students and staff first. |
Agree with this and not in DCC. Anyone would and should advocate for this. |
However when parents of kids at W schools don't want split articulation entering middle school we are racist a**holes who are only worried about our wealth. Got it. |
You was separate which is fine if it were all equal. Split articulation should be the least of your concerns. If 1000 students or more are cut from WJ, for example, what programs and classes will be cut as they lose a good number of staff. |
No, I don't want separate. You are stereotyping and assuming and generally acting the way you accuse others of acting. Split articulation actually is the most of my concerns. Sorry that doesn't fit your narrative. |
Most kids don’t keep their same friends. It’s fine. It does seem pointless but that’s MCPS. |
So which is it? Is split articulation okay only for DCC kids because some older kids chose to attend a school other than their home school to access the same programs available at all the rich kids' home schools? Or is it bad for everyone? Or is your take that split articulation is only bad for your kids and those of your friends at similar schools and you dgaf about the East county because you don't know anyone there and an anonymous DCUM poster.hurt your feelings so you hate all our kids? |
Kids friendships are often intertwined with the parents so it may be more about the parents than the kids. Kids mix up friendships in MS and HS. |
Or this can be viewed as an opportunity to expand you friend group and learn about meeting new people. Plus friend groups shift in middle all the time. It’s expected that some of the ES friendships won’t make it. |
No, I don't want split articulation for anyone if they don't want it. Per the post I was responding to, I do think it's more important to maintain articulation through middle school (which was the point made by someone defending the DCC structure). Why must you continue to assume the absolute worst of an opinion that APPARENTLY MOST DCC PARENTS AGREE WITH. Again, why is it wrong for me to have the SAME OPINION because I live somewhere else? |
I was responding to someone who said why middle school split articulation = bad and high school choice = good. Sorry for supporting the DCC, I guess. |
Kids switch up interests and friends groups pretty often. It also changes in hs as kids graduate. Good friendships will survive kids going to different schools if the parents are willing to make it work. It doesn’t make sense at all to do split articulations but those designing the new school zones don’t really understand the area and while the miles on paper seem to make things close with traffic, it’s not. |
I understand that. I also understand that, given my kids personal needs, split articulation would be very difficult for our family so that is what I'm saying when I respond to surveys. |
| To summarize: split articulation is the worst thing but also no big deal. |
