Jimmy Kimmel show cancelled.

My company just fired my coworker who had 20 years with the company and generally nice guy. Why?
They could get same performance from someone cheaper and same or better performance.

It happens. All the time.

Please. Look at the timing fool.

Kimmel's show was very popular. ABC, like CBS, is cutting off it's nose to spite its face. Kimmel will be invited to speak his mind on Fallon and Colbert.

No. It wasn’t popular. ABC was looking for an opportunity to cut the cord. I guess one more instance of lying put them over the edge.

His show had fewer viewers than Colbert and we know his show was losing money. I can only imagine how much Kimmel was losing.

Why would they need to wait for the “opportunity” of the federal government ordering them to cancel the show? Are you listening to yourself?[/quote

Why are spreading more lies here? The federal government didn't order Sinclair to preempt Kimmel. It just didn't happen. So just stop.

The FCC chair was threatening their license if they didn’t cancel his show yesterday afternoon and then they cancelled the show that evening. But sure, there’s no connection at all. Are all MAGA as dumb as you?

Do you really think Carr is so sycophantic that he would use his influence and power to push to have anyone insulting dear leader taken off the air?

This guy?

Don’t be so stupid. It doesn’t stop here. Trump wants every comedian and commenter who criticizes him off the air. That’s not “turning down the heat” - that’s a one-party State media.

We’re 20 pages into this. For the love of God, will someone explain to me why the following words that Jimmy Kimmel uttered got him fired? He did not disparage Charlie Kirk or “celebrate” his death. His broader point is that the Trump administration and MAGA are using Kirk’s killing to score political points. That is a widely held belief on the left and has been voiced by many others in TV, social media, etc. Why force him to apologize to the Kirk family and to make a donation to Turning Point when Kimmel didnt say anything bad about Kirk himself?

Kimmel said, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it.” He suggested the suspect, Tyler Robinson, was aligned with the MAGA movement and criticized Trump supporters for denying this to exploit the tragedy politically. Kimmel also mocked JD Vance’s claims blaming the left and called Trump’s emotional response insincere.

You don’t understand free speech.

Jimmy has free speech. He doesn’t have the right to say whatever he wants without consequence.

The government didn’t go to Jimmy’s house and lock him up because he told his viewers his opinion. He wasn’t imprisoned for freely speaking his mind.

What Jimmy did made his employer unhappy and they consider his speech inappropriate. So they decline to further pay him to have a tv show.

An ABC spokesman on Wednesday night said, "'Jimmy Kimmel Live' will be pre-empted indefinitely."

A person familiar with Kimmel's situation told CNBC that the popular late-night show host has not been fired.

Things Kimmel said:
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it”

“This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK?”

So he lost his job because his employer decided his joke about a man’s death was inappropriate.

He didn’t go to jail.

Jimmy has free speech and he has experienced the consequences of free speech.

Many on dcum embrace the same conspiracy theory about Kirk’s death. And they are wrong as Jimmy was.

He did not joke about Kirk or his death. He suggested the administration was using the death for political purposes. Why is thst “inappropriate”? Late night hosts and TV pundits have said much worse about Trump and his administration. Why is this type of car suddenly “inappropriate”?

In the early 2000s, experts on extremism identified a newly developing type of hate speech they labeled as “political dog whistles”. These dog whistles are meant to activate the unconscious prejudice and hatred within the intended audience without the audience even realizing it is happening to them. The language is coded to seem innocent for plausible deniability and it isn’t even possible for the target to understand what has happened to them. When extremists use these dog whistles, you need someone outside of the intended audience to recognize it, label it, and call it out.

It is no surprise that people on the left don’t understand these dog whistles that were being used. That is the really dangerous thing about these dog whistles in that you cannot even know they are being used on you. But outsiders do understand exactly what is happening here.

That’s subjective and not the point. Do MAGA have any logical reasoning? They don’t know the tidal wave they’ve unleashed against themselves.

Hey. If you think canceling Kimmel’s show was the result of something this administration did - file a lawsuit. The Democrats have proven that they are not shy about suing. I’m sure some of the Dem’s legal bulldogs would be happy to oblige. But, you won’t because doing so simply confirms that Kimmel was nothing more than a mouth piece for the DNC.

And, if you do file one, I have no doubt that you will find that the decision to pull Kimmel off the air had nothing to do with anything the FCC said. It was a business decision. Kimmel’s show was not popular and has been losing money. His latest comments were simply the last straw.

Can you please state the exact wording that is a “dog whistle”?

And would you concede that the right uses dog whistles as well?

Sure. Keep thinking that and keep trying to find something. Your hunt for dirt will be in vain.

Ok, for some reason Jeff cut off a thread where I asked this question, so I'm hoping that 21 pages into a similar thread someone will answer the question as to why some people on the left think Robinson is MAGA?

I mainly watch CNN and read the post and I have not seen anything that indicates he's MAGA and his postings plus romantic relationship indicate that he was anything but. I am truly curious as to where some people on the left are getting the notion that that Robinson was MAGA from.
