She's 8th grade AP at Forest Oak now.

I’m a parent and not a teacher, but if I were a teacher I would feel insulted and disrespected that this is what my school district is trying to pass off as professional development. This is abysmal.

Monifa has no shame.

There were plenty of us who felt disrespected. "Moving away from rules." Really? How are we preparing our young people for the world? This is pathetic.

Please share your definition of the word "communist".

You must have been stuck with a troublemaker disrupting your English and History classes.

If you watched that video and you missed the communist/socialist undertones, then I’m not going to do your critical thinking for you. But it wasn’t even disguised. She literally said education is political work.

^YES!

I hope the media gets a hold of this training video and more people get to see it. It’s important for families to realize what kind of useless propaganda MCPS is pushing.

Ummmmmm did you read the article on Dr. Beidleman where it mentioned several teachers reported him and nothing was done? So, yeah. Nothing much comes from teachers speaking up. And I say this as someone who has worked for MCPS for over 25 years. The parent and community voices usually carry more weight. Please help us!

What boggles my mind is that someone watched this video that was proposed by two people and said, "Yes, this is the ticket! Let's force all staff to watch it!" I'm so glad that I left education. Teachers can't continue to take the blame for everything. Behaviors are out of control in schools and now they're suggesting we tell kids to organize themselves (rather than line up) or mind their bodies (rather than don't hit). I can't see how anyone would want to teach in this school system any longer.

The video was posted to YOuTube a few days before the training. I doubt anyone watched it before paying for it.

Memos must get approved and signed off on up the chain of ladder in MCPS. You would think a training video would have been previewed as well before giving it the go ahead to be used with all staff.

The video is a regurgitation and remix of her previously published works. They knew what they were getting when they hired this lady.

Weird, I thought the video was fine. I didn't see any of this conspiracy nonsense. You should probably put down the crack pipe.

Telling people that they are smoking crack as an insult is anti-mental health, and coated in shame language which brings harm to those who struggle with substance use. Not to mention, it's a form of cyberbullying.

Dr. Shalaby would not approve of this kind of rhetoric or behaving in her classroom. Mind your words.
