No, you don’t. You’re perfect the way you are. We local ladies don’t put up with crap. Just learn local customs, be kind and respectful, share the load and you’ll be fine. |

This was not my experience at all. When I lived there, the local men had a hard time making real money. They all worked multiple jobs and seemed very emeshed with their families.
My friend divorced and stayed on island. This is 10 years ago and she is still single. She couldn’t find a normal guy to date. And she’s Filipino, so she has some shared cultural history with the locals. And to those that think everyone is thin and beautiful- not even close. The Hawaiians give new meaning to body self acceptance. Huge women on the beach all the time. I’m not a thin woman but I felt thin when I lived there. |
DP It's the flipside of a Asian perso born in TX. Most people would not call this person a Texan. If you are white and born in Hawaii, I guess you shouldn't be called a Hawaiian. |
To me, "island time" would be a feature! |
| Commit to what, OP? Sounds to me like commit to hide the sausage and not much else. Sounds like they said that as pick-up lines esp knowing you were there temporarily. |
No, if you are not of Native Hawaiian ancestry, you don’t call yourself a Hawaiian. Has nothing to do with skin color. |
You are truly kind and encouraging! Thank you! I like no-mess sisters. Respect and kindness are SOP in my family, so is no BS.
PS: YAY for Door Dash, Uber Eats and Wash and Fold! Heeeheee!!!

And they generally don't like white people. |
I don't mind a bit of misogyny from hot guys. My eggs shrivel up when I encounter the DC Big-Law uglies. |
| Under-employed men are far more enthusiastic about marriage than common sense would suggest. |
Depends on the woman, but pick an attitude: Sugar Upgrade Actually — it doesn’t matter. Semantics.
|
That is true. |
+20. A mainlander is easy pickings! |
| living on an island, everyone knows everyone or is related. Small minded, small town thinking. Very little professional opportunity outside of military or tourism. Alaska has a lot of single men too, but really not worth settling down with a surviavlist. Same story, different weather. |
| Be careful. Hawaii's economy is heavily tourism based so it's like a revolving door of people. Men and women there make money charming tourists who pay for things while they are there and get money from them and then are done with them upon leaving. |
