Why all the unmasked people at the park?

It it's not a crowded park, it doesn't matter. Most well used parks in the DC metro are crowded, hence the mask mandate. And some of us haven't yet been able to be fully vaccinated.

But don't worry, I'm staying at home so the rest of you can "go live your lives" without any compromises whatsoever.

Thank you!!

No. You are staying home and outsourcing all risk to the poor/working class. Congratulations on your moral superiority.

I'm not an anti-maskeer. I always wear a mask indoors. But I am not wearing a damn mask outside. You're just going to have to deal with it, or stay at home. Also, I'm fully vaccinated.

They are outside PP. Are they in a football huddle? They should mask. General running around outside and occasionally getting in less than 6ft from others? It's fine. Totally fine. Give it a rest with the outside masking BS.

What about loudly talking together seated around the sandbox? I saw an unmasked dad loudly talking the entire time I was there. We avoided the sandbox area.

That's what I'm doing. Avoiding the park, avoiding your businesses, and avoiding doing anything in person..mainly because of antimaskers. How is that working out for most financially?

Say what now?!

Not wearing a mask outside is not the same as an "antimasker" because indoors is not remotely the same as outside. The abundant, constantly moving air outside is FAR (FARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR) more helpful than your mask, when it comes to preventing covid. I am baffled how you do not understand the difference between outside and indoors, so as to call someone outside an "antimasker."

They think being masked indoors is safer than being unmasked outdoors. There is no reasoning with them.

The people who cling to their masks like a security blanket are just so sad. Masks absolutely have a time & place (indoors, especially with unvaccinated people). The inability for people like PP and OP to differentiate context is what's going to drive the growing mental health crisis in this country.

It’s fine. Even CNN is starting to admit it.

Still very, very low risk. Unless they were all seated shoulder to shoulder for an hour around that sandbox (which I'm guessing didn't happen). Constant airflow is a MUCH bigger nail to covid, than your mask.

It shows a respect of science at best. And harmless laziness at worst.

Outside masking and respect for science... A+ sarcasm

Wasn’t being sarcastic. Read the two posts again.

If you're asking people to mask outside, that is the antithesis of science. There is air movement constantly all around - absolutely nobody is getting covid running around a park or playground, vaxxed or unvaxxed. You clearly do not understand science.

Those who follow the science most strictly think the wind blows Covid in their faces. They cannot think critically.

Just partially, the only labor we outsource is grocery shopping that we pick that up at the curb. We've just stopped buying most things, and don't even get takeout any more since indoor dining started again. We don't and have never done shipt or instacart or any of that expensive delivery crap. Can't afford to. So much for my moral superiority, I guess?

It's funny the reopeners and antimaskers complain that there are too many poors who won't take their poor paying jobs needing to be filled right now, especially in restaurants and hospitality, but then they also complain (inaccurately) that those of us who have chronic health issues are abusing the poor. Hmmm.

Just go to the park and have fun without your mask already. The rest of us have your number.

Depends on time, distance, ventilation, and sunlight. It’s most likely fine. It’s certainly fine for 10 minutes.

My God. Outdoor cases are 1 in 1,000 and usually have indoor mixing. What do you think the effect size of masking is? Do we pile low effect interventions on top of highly effective interventions to make us as safe as possible? Or should we enjoy a highly effective intervention that allows a sense of normalcy?

You do realize it's sti pollen season, right?
Masks have been a godsend I will never give up during this time of year.

Don’t forget the .7% chance of asymptomatic spread..in households. Even the CDC is beginning to admit asymptomatics can’t really spread it.

Glad you found something that works. Not reasonable to expect others to mask outdoors.

What's your source for this? Also "indoor mixing" = indoor. Outdoor is outdoor. 1 in 1,000 covid cases are not from outdoor activity - cite your claim or quit spreading your unscientific panic porn.
