Spring uniform?

Skinny jeans are not out. They are a fashion staple. The Middleton sisters are known to be high fashion and Pippa was just sporting skinnies earlier this week.

Can we all make a pact to bring back bootlegs? They balance out our curves and make butts look amazing. Skinnies are OK, but I’m ready for something new and mom jeans are not it.

Op here -- Thanks to everyone for your advice. Here's a quick update on my wardrobe evolution --

tried the fleece thing and, sadly, it doesn't work for me . . . just too bulky, but very cozy, so I get the appeal;

updated my jeans -- the new ones are straight and ankle-length in a light blue wash (Madewell petite) and I love them;

found the unicorn of white shirts from J Crew (also petite) and am quite pleased -- it's a basic, yes, but that's the point of a uniform, right?;

also bought another cotton v-neck sweater -- it's a pretty grey/green that feels like early spring to me (Banana Republic -- not petite b/c I wanted the oversize look);

put away my boots and am mostly wearing sneakers -- fleece-lined Olukai slip-ons and my favorite blue/grey Golas;

found a fabulous linen dress on sale from Eileen Fisher (yes!) -- the colors are beautiful -- turquise, olive and black stripes -- and it's a petite, so no need to hem it.

Though summer will be here soon, I could still use some more spring tops -- for casual wear and maybe something a bit more festive. Would love any suggestions you might have, but please don't say the B word . . . Breton. Sorry, but I studied in Paris for a year and I can't see those without thinking of American students trying to look like their image of French girls, even though French women never wear those outside of vacation sur la plage.

That's it for me. Rock on with your bad selves, DCUM fashionistas!

I think all the jeans in those photos are nice. Not skinny, not mom jeans.

My personal favorite cut ever was the boyfriend jean. They're sort of back.

Op, can you post a link to the white J.Crew shirt? Thanks!

Everything you all are saying about skinny jeans (timeless, flatter everyone, cold dead hands etc) we were saying about bootcut ten years ago ...

OP - do you have any links you can share? Sounds like you found some great staples!

No thank you to my middle school style. Next you'll want boxy polo shirts and ugly floral dresses... oh wait..

I just bought these exact madewell jeans in a lighter wash. They are TERRIBLE and I'm 5'7" 120lbs. I bought a "perfect vintage" pair from them about 1 1/2 years ago and they are great. They must've changed the cut because these have so much more room in the pooch and thighs that they immediately make me look very dumpy. Super bummed because I can't shop in person yet and I need new jeans.

Well, I'm curvy and they look pretty great on me 5'2" and 110# . Maybe they've changed the cut, as you suggest. In any case, the uniform that works for me might not be the one that works for you. C'est la vie.
