How do you think the fall will be in fcps?

Nope. There will be irreparable educational damage if you continue this for another year. You will also destroy teachers if you force concurrent on them for an entire year. Teachers will be vaccinated, household adults vaccinated, metrics will be fine...time to go back to normal in fall (with masks).

I agree the damage will be irreparable and that this will destroy teachers. That doesn't matter to FCPS.

It will be hybrid, at least for MS and HS.

The CDC guidance does not allow them to relax the 6 foot distance requirements until there is almost no community spread.

Monitors will still be here. The CDC guidance told schools to take into account the needs of teacher’s high risk family members.

The CDC guidance...is guidance. Almost nobody will be doing distance next fall. Plus, most states/counties won't even be in the orange/red anyway.

It's catchy, it rhymes, I like it.

Honestly I think we all need to just accept that hybrid is the most likely.

They’ll be in the red thanks to the new variants.

We can’t keep accommodating every last person and parent with this concurrent learning stuff. I really am worried they will make it part of the normal job. It just makes for a bad class experience for too many people. I know some private schools have worked it out, but FCPS is still dealing withe some low grade tech that limits what we can do with concurrent learning.

Okay, but please not hybrid concurrent. It is the combination of those which is a killer.

No hybrid and no concurrent and no slideshows. For the love of god. Haven't the kids suffered enough.

A lot of teachers are suffering too. I am so unhappy about this hybrid concurrent model. Couldn’t they have at least done “just concurrent?” I will only get to see each student who is in person once per week! Do you know how hard it is going to be to establish comfortable classroom routines and rhythms? I hate it!

Who is teaching the 1/2 of students that are home?

Hybrid = concurrent

As a parent I have been pushing hard for 3' distancing and 4 days in-person (like most of the world). CDC's new guidelines influenced by NEA and AFT did NOT help with that one.

FYI, the variants have been here for months. Numbers are still declining, and vaccines are ramping. I think variants are the new rallying call of the DL-for-all crowd.

. No, they are not the same thing. Concurrent means at the same time. Hybrid means, essentially, everyone gets a half of a week.

I was hoping we could do the 4 day a week schedule starting mid march when we will all be vaccinated. Then, yes, use the three feet rule. This inconsistency in scheduling makes it really difficult to teach the kids anything!
