Minority? 74 million votes is a sizeable minority.

Not in a country of 330 million, it isn’t. it’s not even 25%!!!

Plus, we’re going to be adding millions more people in the next few years through fairer immigration policies, and most will be eligible to vote shortly after they arrive, so the Old White Party will be even more irrelevant than it is now. I’m giddy!

Eighty million voted for Biden and that isn't 25% either. Why do people insist on counting children and nonvoters as if they matter in elections?

But they got there by stirring up racism and conspiracy theories. Not a good foundation.

What does Good have to do with anything? They are building a political base by pitting an ethnic majority against ethnic minorities. Same as what has worked all over the world. They aren't going away because tribalism is part of human civilization. I for one believe a civil war is a distinct possibility and things will get worse before they get better.

Also in 2020 62% voted for Biden, 25% voted for Trump in ages 18-29. Divide is only widening.

Also do you really think GOP will ever get 72 million voters to turn out again?

Sorry, I am not a baby boomer but I am old enough to remember when they were liberals. The next Republican fascist to win will sound better to every generation.

I didn't think they would get it this time and you probably didn't either. To me that means I can't count on assumptions and guesses for the future.

1. In 1980, the vote was split amongst 18-29 year olds 44/44% with Carter/Reagan. This year was 62/25 Biden/Trump.
2. The popular vote continues to widen. Once gerrymandering is addressed, more and more counties and states will continue to turn blue.
3. Youth voter turnout is continuing to increase.
4. Population growth is continuing to spread from blue states to red states.
5. Population is turning more brown.

= GOP as we know it is dying a slow, ugly, painful death and I am totally here for it.

I'm just telling you that I have heard rumours of the GOP's demise since the 70s and found them to be greatly exagerrated every time. After much reflection, I realized the reason why. Parties aren't static. They can and do change to attract voters. Both parties have done this many times. Going with Trump is an obvious and extreme change. Hopefully, too extreme to ever come vack. Nonetheless, there are opening for less overtly racist conservatives to win, especially if McConnell succeeds in his next obstruction campaign.

As long as there are morons, selfish people, and selfish morons, the GOP will always have a place in American politics.

They even got a boost this year because Trump taught them that they had been hobbling themselves all along - they knew their base was made up of the bottom of the IQ barrel, but they thought their lies had to actually be somewhat believable. Trump taught them that you can tell the rubes literally anything and as long as it's what stupid, selfish, racist people want to hear, they'll lap it up and trip over themselves to vote for the person saying it no matter how hard they screw themselves in the process.

I agree somewhat. That’s why I said “as we know it”. There will have to be a significant shift for them to adapt and even then, they will be the minority party for a long time.

The next gen GOP will play even more dirty. People accustomed to power dont just say, " Oh, okay you won." They bend the rules to make sure they keep winning (i.e. gerrymandering, voting rule changes, etc.)

I say again. The GOP has been changing votes for several elections and is even more of a minority party than they appear to be.

I agree with you. I'm pretty sure they have been fixing votes for the better part of the last 20 years. They currently are all mad about the machines, but remember when the Rs had BIG STOCK in voting machine companies? They didn't do it for their health

Yes, it just seems a smidge beyond belief that the GOP continues to win, quite handily, in races that are polling almost dead even. Over and over and over again the GOP wins.
Last 538 poling average Harrison v Graham - expected win Graham by 5.1% - actual Graham 10.2 (I looked all all these actual results on Google)
“ Cornyn v Hegar - expected win Cornyn by 7.3% - actual Cornyn by 9.6%
“ Collins v Gideon - expected win Gideon by 2% - actual Collins by 8.6%
“ Ernst v Greenfield - expected win Ernst by 1.4% - actual Ernst by 9.6%
“ McConnell v McGrath - McConnell by 13% - actual McConnell by 19.6%

Truly, the GOP keeps outperforming in some really unexpected ways. Whatever beans the GOP has, they sure seem magical.
