More than four kids

Don't worry about the "overpopulation" posters, Our birth rate in the US is decreasing and we need more people to care for elderly and keep up production later!

+1 people don’t seem to grasp that the overpopulation problem is a global one. In the US and Europe, the birth rate is declining and we need to make more babies.

There are still more babies being born than people dying, even with Corona.

I wouldn't do it unless you have college saved for all four current kids.

Births this year are more than double deaths.

It depends how they're spaced.

But, it’s pretty narcissistic to want to overpopulate the world with your offspring isn’t it? And selfish. Even if you have all the money I’m the world, what makes you think you and your family are actually “value add?” And if you aren’t thinking about it that way, you should be.

By your logic, you shouldn’t be allowed any children at all. Do you have kids? What makes you the judge of how many is ok? Do your children “value add”?
Unless you don’t have children, you really can’t call people out.

Np. Is math challenging for you. If you have more than two kids, you are helping to overpopulate the world. It is by definition selfish. The op is thinking of what she wants over the disadvantages to the rest of us. She can still choose to do it, but it is selfish.

This is just a lame virtue signal from people with 0-2 kids that makes them feel so righteous about the environment without actually having to do anything other than sit on their couch and post online and judge others. “Oh I’m so awesome I’ve done my part by having 0-2 kids, it is everyone else’s fault for having more than 2 kids...”

Adding multiple new humans (beyond replacement rate) is literally, the worst thing you can do to the environment. No electric car or amount of composting can ever make up the difference.

If they really cared about the environment, they would have no kids or adopt. It has nothing to do with math. They probably didn’t want more than two kids and it’s easy to sit back and call people out who want more.

So you decided replacement rate is fine? China had a one child limit. Why do you get to decide?

I think its narcissistic to never have children. You clearly don't know what having children is about.

That's pretty funny. I expect you have zero kids. You certainly have zero empathy.

Not at all. I just *really* dislike hypocrites and mean people. Don’t open the thread if you have nothing nice to say.

This! I have four and I’m getting ready to give some of them away.

The problem in the US isn’t overpopulation. We aren’t in the position of Europe yet but we do have to pay attention because we need our workforce to be strong and large enough to support the retirees. Currently our birth rate is the lowest it has been in more than thirty years. But our real problem is who is having kids. We need people who can afford kids (both financially and emotionally) to have more and people who can’t to have fewer. OP clearly has the means and heart for more kids so is not the problem.

More than 3 kids appears to be a trend of the financially well off and the poor.
