If you're Christian, are you going to church for Easter?

You're just full of prejudice, aren't you, OP.

Don't worry. I'm sure at some point in your life Catholics will do something egregious and you'll have a field day!

Not a good idea to go down that route ...

Oh jeez. I'm not anti-Catholic.

It was a question borne from all the coverage of churches being open. You all are so defensive. I would be saying the same thing about mosques if a major Muslim holiday were coming up.

NP. I’m not Catholic but you do seem pretty anti-Catholic. Or at least ignorant. If you’ve been seeing “many” reports of church gatherings (and I haven’t seen these reports), then you’d know the denominations and you wouldn’t be blaming the pope.

Come on. It's not unreasonable to look at reports of churches being packed (and they've been in mainstream news outlets, so I'm surprised you haven't seen them) and ask about the Catholic Church. It's great that they're being responsible--that's wonderful--but it's reasonable to ask about other churches.

Because you're Catholic-bashing. If you didn't mean to do that, surely you'll have no problem apologizing.

But I think you knew exactly what you were doing.

In a Western country, it is unpardonable to not know the difference between the main Christian denominations.

I know the difference. I simply asked the question because many authorities in this country have given exemptions to churches and many churches have remained open.

I'm happy that Catholics aren't being irresponsible. That's truly wonderful.

There are many others, though, that are being irresponsible.

I've now posted several times how wonderful it is that Catholics are being responsible. No one has answered the question about other denominations.

No, as a first line of defense God have me common sense.

The same people who were at the Wharf today will also be at church.

Maybe because your original post is so obviously about Catholicism that Protestants (most of their churches are closed), Orthodox (in the denominations I know all churches are closed, LDS (everything closed currently having their annual conference remotely) aren’t here.

A tiny minority of Christian churches have stayed open. The vast majority of Christians, like the vast majority of Jews are staying home.

Most states have banned large gatherings, including church. There are exceptions, especially in the south, but I wouldn’t expect it to be much of an issue in this area.

The Wharf yesterday would suggest otherwise. People are idiots.

No. It's illegal in Maryland. I don't know a single church in my area that is offering anything other than online/TV/radio services right now.

Even if my church was open on Easter, my family would not being going. We do not need to physically go to church to connet with God and with one another. But we do look forward to a future date when we can go again.

There are churches resisting social distancing in the south, but it has nothing to do with religion or Christianity. It s a political issue. Trump turned Covid 19 into an us against them issue. Religious folks in the south who don't follow Trump or Fox news have been willingly practicing social distancing.
