Do you take your kids to vineyards?

We drink at our neighborhood playground.

+1
Happy hour, PP. what do you think the Yeti is for?

We've done it where the winery has some outdoor space or is otherwise kid-friendly. We go, taste a little, and have a picnic or listen to live music. We don't drink enough to get tipsy, which isn't the point of going to a winery, anyway. Some wineries, like Barrel Oak, specifically market themselves as family-friendly. Others don't allow anyone under 18 or 21, which we of course respect. It's nice to have different options.

Winery at Bull Run. Tons of outdoor space for kids to run around and play. We usually bring bubbles, a soccer ball, etc. and the little ones have a great time and often end up playing with other kids that are there too. Tons of picnic tables with umbrellas for shade. They divide the outdoor space into one section for "over 21 only" and one section for families with kids. That way the kids have freedom to run around without us worrying about them bothering other people, and the people that don't want to deal with kids don't have to. Bring a picnic and enjoy!

It’s not against the law to drink. Or be outside. Or drink with kids.

IT is against the law to drink and drive which is the reason I don’t take kids to wineries.

But you don’t HAVE to leave as soon as you finish a drink. Do you also not go to restaurants? There is alcohol there too. And cars. Gulp.

Yes, I go to restaurants but I don't drink when I will be driving my kid home. I am not willing to risk it.

They don't always enforce the 21+ area. I live very close to Bull Run, but refuse to go there anymore because of this.

No it’s the reason you never drink anywhere except your house.

We Uber or just split a bottle.

Same here. Uber everywhere. I HIGHLY doubt PP actually waits long enough for the alcohol to be completely out of her system, and you can still be 1) above the legal limit even when you feel fine and/or 2) deemed impaired if your actions indicate you are intoxicated even if your BAC is not the legal limit. It’s actually insane to me people would take their kids to a place whose sole purpose is drinking alcohol, and drive home. You must be a complete imbecile.

That is not our purpose. We go for live music, outdoor space, look at the horses, mountain view, picnic, walk around, etc. We have a glass of wine, but we don't get drunk. At all.

No, I don't think it's appropriate personally.

Great place - they have both beer & wine...plus dogs are welcome!

Kids, dogs (off-leash, sure to encourage freedom and exploration) and adults drinking. That's perfect.

I hope you mean you go to the ones you can uber to.

Nope. We drive our own cars! I know, it’s illegal to drive to and from a place that serves alcohol. But it’s a worth it.

I know! It’s been quite restrictive not being allowed to drive to any single place that serves alcohol. But we somehow survive!

Hmmm I’m not sure that’s an actual law. Even Chuck E. Cheese sells alcohol
