Wow, that is one heck of a blue!! |
I think it's nice to let them pick but you gotta give them a short list. Like if they say green, you go and get 5 green paint chips that will work and they pick from those. |
Light blue, and find colorful wall decals in colors they like. |
We used lots of decals and when we removed them, they tore up the wall and paint under it. Never again. I don't get resistance to fun colors. Its paint, you can easily paint over it. |
Light blue works! |
I worry about light blue looking like a nursery from 1984. I guess I need the right shade. |
No. God, nothing is as gross as looking at house listings and seeing these garish, fugly colors in kids’ Rooms. Let them decorate with stuffed animals or cutesy furniture but please have normal walls. |
You would hate my child's room Paint can be changed and it cheap. No one wants lame stuffed animals past age 4 or cutesy furniture. |
No one wants neon green walls either. Figure out an age appropriate way to decorate that isn’t garish and heinous. |

Really? I’ve never, ever had this problem. Sounds tedious for you! |
I prefer kids' rooms to be colors rather than neutrals. My son's room (age 3) is a medium blue - Faded Flaxflower - and we absolutely love it. It's soothing for sleep and makes it feel like his own special place in the house. We also have Blissful Blue in the playroom, and it's a nice happy lighter blue.
I gave my kids a choice of a couple of colors I liked and let them pick. |
Newburyport blue or gill wing gray Benjamin Moore. |
I love it! My 12 and 9 year old girls would too! Their rooms are cream with a bright red wall snd lilac respectively. Color is life! |
+1, just did a bedroom in solitude, it’s gorgeous and would work for any age, I’d think. |
