I thought girls were a liability you had to marry off. I’m Eastern European and don’t know anyone who wanted girls.

The perspective is very different in the coastal U.S.. Girls do better in school, behave better, and are less likely to have ADHD or autism.

then they grow up and throw it all away on some man to be a sahm.

so no big win there.

In my opinion there is no more valuable job than being a mother to one or more human beings. I would be well pleased if any of my 3 girls chose that route, taking time away from a paying job to be a full time mother for a while. And if they chose not to, I would be supportive of that too.

OP, the people saying those things in front of your son are rude and you should shut them down. How awful. Please let your son know he is wanted and valued.

I wanted a girl, have a girl, and if we were planning a second I'd want a second girl. I am from a family of girls (no brothers) and both my parents have lots of sisters and no brothers. But I would never say any of that in front of a boy or to a mom of boys. And if I got a boy I would be fine.

That’s because you grew up poor. When you have more money, you want girls.

Also men are responsible for most of the violence in this world. This about the school shootings. People are no aware of how dangerous men are. I don’t want a boy for this reason.

Highly unusual. You must know that most violent crimes are by men? Google it. Men are violent creatures.

I'm female and all of my friends wanted girls. People love buying clothes and doing girly things with their daughters. I have one of each. Nearly everyone was more excited about my daughter except my inlaws. My inlaws wanted a grandson more.

I love both of my kids equally, but enjoyed everything about having a baby girl more. The external stuff like bows, dresses, decorating her room and she looks like me. I love both kids equally though. I don't enjoy playing trucks or trains the way I love playing dolls with my daughter. And I'm sure some of you have boys that like dolls, but that wasn't my kids. It was weird how my son gravitated to the trucks. Both went to a nearly all girl inhome daycare too.

+1. I also agree with another PP that when you have one of each it gives people license to talk about the "perfect" family or "matched set."

Basically, you reinforced so-called gender norms, and we wonder why more women don't go into STEM. #minime #boymom

I’m so tired of these norms. I work in an STEM field. DH works in retail (gasp!). If anyone were to post #minime, it would be DH about DD, as she is the spitting image of him. They do all kinds of things, like play soccer, chase zombies, and the like. I “run her” at the park, and we jump in muddy puddles, as he doesn’t like getting dirty.

She does cook and clean with me though. I guess there’s a gender norm.

Have you ever considered that elementary school is not set up for boys personalities? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFpYj0E-yb4

Wait what?

Most violent crimes are committed by men. That’s a fact. Do you think there’s a conspiracy in the entire world to make up these statistics?

I'm
Specifically referring to your last two posts which clearly hate on men. "Men are violent creatures". Do you say that to your kids? I wasn't commenting on the statistics. I was commenting on your gross comments.

I've met people like that and they usually have no kids or only boys. My two close friend's from childhood are always over the moon to spend time with my daughters whenever we visit. Same thing with my SIL. They both only have boys.

For example, I wish l have a girl/What did u do to get a girl/Lucky you/Aww...u have a girl etc. I did not recall that I get those comments other than "congratulation" with my first born son. My 3 year old son has been so nervous (nightmare, hiding under table, sitting in a corner looking at me when I hold baby) already with his new sister, and all other people comments regarding new baby sister just further increase his anxieties/insecurities. She gets all the attention, and I feel awkward to all comments other than saying thank you to everyone. So, baby girl is more desired among women these days, huh?

Baby trans is all the rage these days.
