Flu is spreading!

Both my kids had it last year. They only prescribed it for my 1 yo with asthma. My 3 yo was not at high risk and prescribed.

My healthy 45 year old friend tried to die in the hospital this week of Sepsis after a bout with the flu. She’s still trying to die , even with care in the ICU.
Flu is freaking scary !

Do you read the news? This year's flu shot was only about 50% effective against the current strains of influenza. My whole family had flu shots, yet my older child just tested positive for the flu. The pediatrician said that most of the cases of children with the flu that she's seen this year were children who had the flu shot.

I dont believe eve this for one second.

If the pediatrician has given the flu shot to most of her patients, it would be likely that most of patients with the flu have had the flu shot.

Our pediatrician recommends tamiflu uniformly it seems. And they gave it to our whole family to take while youngest had flu. Probably coincidence, but the rest of us did not catch it.

I know this is something for another post, but I’m always amazed that on a board as educated as this one, that does so much research over every.lttle.thing, how quick people are to jump on to Tamiflu and the like in uncomplicated, low risk cases. I guess antibiotic/antiviral resistance is something people only worry about in hospitals and in poor countries.

Amantadine used to be effective against flu... now it’s not.
