To those who posted getting straight 99% - are your kids in MS magnets?

No local scores on my dc report. Anyone have anything in the local score column?

Maybe it would be more interesting to post raw scores instead of percentages

MCPS tweet:
If you applied to an MCPS regional or countywide high school application program(MC2, P-Tech, PLTW Engineerig, IB, CAP, Global, Science/Math/CS and others) results are in homes or on their way!

What does the "in homes" mean? Is that a shorter way of saying they've been mailed and you've already gotten them in your mailbox or it will be there soon? In other words, they don't post the results electronically either in the portal or email the parents or kids, do they?

If they were emailed I think they would just say so... I know the APEX program at WJ emailed the students AND the parents separately. DD is waiting for magnet letter and DS was rejected from tp and eastern due to cohorts. DS received an actual letter.

DC got straight 99s. Not in MS magnet.

Anonymous wrote:I agree, there must be a wide range within 99%. My kid got a 99% on verbal for both age and grade, but attempted 64 and only got 54 right. Yikes.

I think this is one reason the makers of the CoGAT test themselves apparently say that it's not meant to tease out fine differences between the high-percentile kids.

I really hope that the magnet HS don't put excessive weight on the test scores. Like 17:38's kid, some kids don't do well on computer tests. Others don't do well on standardized tests generally yet are incredibly smart. It's a very artificial test set-up, just as the SATs and all the other standardized tests are, and it shouldn't be taken as the be-all and end-all of intelligence, knowledge, or capability.

My kid also got 54/64 for 99% - so at least it's consistent.

Every single one of children scored 97 to 99th here in dcurbanmom land. The people who make up 96 and below live in Mississippi and Idaho and are not members of this board.
