He cut state funding to the universities and to public schools---including MoCo. It's not good, people.
Why not improve the public schools in low income areas instead of selecting a small number of kids to go to private school? It's window dressing---it's the easy way out. Instead, we should demand that ALL public schools provide a high quality education.
+1. I don't understand why a select few children will receive scholarships to privates. Why shouldn't the money be spent to increase the overall benefit of the local public schools that these children are attending? Many will argue that it's the parental support at home that truly improves a child's education--so why not replicate the parent model at school? Give the school the money to provide nutritious meals, hire adults to assist with afterschool home work and provide enrichment opportunities, offer free after school child care. Why not provide the benefit for the entire community rather than just a select few?
