Hillary ahead by only 4 pts -- how is this possible??!?!

The poll was conducted Oct 10-13. I think the first groping report came out on the evening of the 12th.

"But that brings us back to the problem that has plagued Trump since the GOP primary: his inability to grow his support among the general electorate. Trump is doing basically nothing in response to his problems these past few weeks that is being met with broad support.

He has long run, and continues to run, a campaign that is very much focused on the Republican Party base, and that base doesn't seem"

oops -- missing the rest of the quote:

to have deserted him at this point. But that base alone is also insufficient to win an election in the United States."

Actually, they don't like being lied to and manipulated by false information. Do you not understand that many people don't trust HRC? That doesn't make them stupid.

Of course, these are national numbers. Not state by state, which is how the presidency is won.

I would have to dig deeper as to why this poll shows 4 points and another shows 11, though. Something is off.

No poll will be right until their reputation is riding on accuracy - that will be close to the election.

Now consider that even if Hillary wins through electoral, if the popular vote is close, i.e. 53/47 or something similar, that means a whole hell of a lot of people feel strongly about the issues Trump promotes.

but that's consisted of alt-R + Trump + GOP + never Hillary/independent voters right? i'm a naturalized citizen and the thought of 47% of my fellow American might not really welcome me and might discriminate against my native born children really depresses me at times.

I'd be even more depressed to find a homemade bomb planted outside my place in Manhattan.

Sure. But how many among that 47% think like you - are there more or less now because of this election?

You believe only 47% of Americans would be depressed to find a bomb outside their homes? My, my, you need to prick your little bubble.

Those in the bubble only care if that bomb IS in their OWN neighborhoods. Their attitude is "it won't happen to me so I don't care". How many times have you see people here boasting about the low chances of an individual being a victim of terror? They do that to calm their own minds and as a defense mechanism to dismiss the horror they know has occurred to others. When you can see a truck plowing over people at a crowded celebration in France, there's only two things you can do - lie to yourself or accept that you are wrong. They choose to lie.

+ 1 the OP is acting as though the Dems have a great candidate and it's incredible that she's in such a tight race with a totally unqualified person. Don't the Dems get that she is a completely unethical person, corrupt to the core, and lies to the public repeatedly? And that 2/3 of Americans think she should have been prosecuted for gross negligence (at a minimum) regarding classified material? That it bothers people that she bribes foreign governments with taxpayer money? That the department she ran tried to bribe the FBI to change the classified markings (in connection with her FBI investigation? That she committed perjury in her testimony to Congress? That she destroyed evidence under subpoena?. The corruption and disregard for law never ends with this woman.

And don't come back at me with all the crap about Trump. I know he's no prize. Why can't you see the same about your queen? There is a reason she isn't 50 points ahead against a buffoon like Trump - and that's because she's just as bad. (In fact, nearly half of voters think she's worse.)

Here is what I see in Hillary: Someone who works really hard for others, and has her whole life. And a lot of people have made its life work to disparage and lie about her.

Take off the blinders. Hillary works for Hillary. If she was able to amass a $100 million fortune by selling State influence, she'll make a billion as president. And because the media does her bidding, it will all be kept hidden.

Why in the world would Hillary be doing this for money? That makes ZERO sense. The woman can command hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees. She already has a boatload of money. I'm sorry, I don't think she is doing this for the money.

I think that Hillary actually believes she is going to do good work. Whether that is the case or not, I don't know.

Of course not, but you were implying immigrants/naturalized citizens/native born children of immigrants make you depressed about bombs. I don't know how many think that way like you do but I want to believe it's fewer than 47%. Do you think it's more - a lot more?

It’s not money. It is power, baby, power.
The Clintons have always been about power.
