MoCo pools charge $5 for under 18, $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $550 for an annual family pass so if I'm reading the DC DPR table right, an annual pass is cheaper in MoCo now but entry fees are still a better deal in DC. |
The Council voted on it! |

We will absolutely stop going to pool. And Bowser was so proud to announce just months ago that the crappy fitness facilities would be free through her FitDC Initiative.
This sucks. |
| Someone on another thread said that the free admission had been subsidized by a corporate grant up until now, so it would make sense that the city might not be able to continue the subsidized funding. I mean, paying to swim is pretty normal. I've never lived anywhere, including communities in the Midwest with their own pools, where the pool was totally free to residents. |
| Hey DC, you just be Bowsered. |
You have to pay to swim in VA too. If 5 dollars to swim is really such a hardship, waivers are available. |
Yeah I was just about to cancel my gym membership and just use the crappy fitness faculities. Poor planning by DC govt. |
Please link me so I can give that piece of useless trash Charles Allen a piece of my mind. |
Washington, DC) – In June 2016, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) implemented new regulations and fees. The new regulations, which were approved by the DC Council and published in the DC Register for public comment, will ensure equitable access, the protection of participants on DPR property and a thorough and efficient permitting system. Many of the ideas set in these regulations came from comments from the general public through a permits task force and public meetings. The regulations also establish new fees for field usage, community rooms, courts, gyms, picnic groves, park-space, pool lanes and equipment. The hourly rates are well below the DC Metro average rates and offer waivers for some qualified users. DPR has also established an activity fee guide with a range of activity fees, with automatic discounts for seniors. |

I love how SENIORS get an automatic discount but my family of five gets charged $600.
Fuck Bowser, Charles "do nothing" Allen, and the rest of the council. |
| Welcome to gentrification! |
| And Cheh too. |
agreed |
Where you're expected to pay for everyone and get no services for yourself. |
You gotta love DC. They tax fitness club fees but not junk food! |
