Do you let your 3 year old wear nail polish?

+1 It isn't like putting acrylics on a kid.

I let my twins (boy/girl, age 3) paint their toes (piggy paint) during a beach vacation with family when they saw some of their older cousins with painted nails. It was cute and hilarious. No piercings of any kind until age 17 though. I don't see this as a contradiction.

I do. There is nothing grown up about hot pink glitter nail polish so I see no issue with it.

Yes. It was thx reward for potty training.

No.

Yes, I'm fine with it even on a 2 year old. It's non-toxic paint on non-living tissue, no problem.

Ear piercings I'll allow at 5+yo. I got mine around that age and there were never any issues. Although I will wait for DD to ask first and move it back if she doesn't seem ready for it at that age. Again, NBD.

Hair dyeing too, for that matter, I started dyeing mine at 12 years old and don't see why DD should have to wait longer than that if she starts asking for it.

But I wonder if those moms who won't allow ear piercings until 13+ would allow their boys to be circumcised? Seems like the bigger modification to me.

Good question!!

I am like you. No issue with nail polish. No issue with hair dye (if non damaging - I had very damaged hair due to bad dye jobs as a teen.) Piercing - when they ask. My DD asked at 6 but we ended up waiting until 7 b/c I couldn't find a piercing studio to do it at a younger age. As for circumcision - well, if my son asks for it, he can have it.

This. My girls can wear nail polish, although I usually save it for a reward or special occasion, but I'm fine with it for whenever too. It's not like I'm putting mascara and blush on my 3 year old!

Yes my DS wants his nails painted when he sees mine done and I don't mind doing it for him ?

I said no to DD until she was 4 then said ok for toes. Now she's almost 6 and we soak our feet and do our own versions of pedicures together in the house. No fingers. She loves it and do too. Mine don't look like they did when I went to a place but it's totally worth it.

And she can get her ears pierced when she asks. So far she doesn't have any interest.

It works, it's not toxic, it usually peels off in a day, I really don't care if people think we're trashy or not

Yes, we allow nail polish for my 3 yo dd. Nbd. she lost interest after a few times anyways. S/o: dd does want to wear long sleeves so thanks for the great idea of using nail polish as a short sleeve bribe

My daughter hasn't expressed much interest in her toes being painted, but loves to pick my color out. I don't necessarily have an issue with painting toddler's toes, but I want her to have healthy nails (I find when I wear too often nails turn yellow).

To each their own, but I grew up with a little boy like this (was the third boy in a family when they wanted a girl). Perhaps he knew his sexual identity early on, but he's now openly gay as a young adult (they also bought him barbies to play with in the pool). i wouldn't care if my son is gay, but I won't be encouraging it by painting his nails.
