Bowser Snow Fail

Perhaps they didn't want to shovel the snow into huge piles blocking the sidewalks on Connecticut.

I grew up in DC, and I'm not a huge Bowser fan, but I think the response was better this year than in past years. I remember the days when nearly a week would go by before the residential streets were plowed. My upper NW small street was plowed on Sunday, which I find impressive for DC. Now the trash pickup, and the Christmas tree pickup, that's another story...

Bowser is very good at saying everything is good, but comes up short in reality. Lots and lots of messaging. Will be shocked if school is opened tomorrow with less than a 2 hour delay.

I'm not a big fan of Bowser, but I think this is a reasonable job at digging out. Neighborhood streets around me are mostly clear enough to drive on.

Most of the people complaining have ridiculous demands that I'm glad we're not paying for as a city.

Some interesting facts about snowfall, money, spending and manpower in DC compared to NY:

So you get a whole day to shovel out your car but only 2.5 days should be allowed to the city to clear every street within it's 68 square mile jurisdiction?

np -- the plows have been badly deployed. One of our streets (we are on a corner) has been repeatedly scraped down to asphalt and the other has been touched once. They are equally busy streets. The last plows came in an shoved ALL of the snow into the corners, so that the sidewalks are now inaccessible and it's like we are in a fort. Everyone will walk on the street because of this. i will try my best to tunnel through 6 feet of snow on the corner to get access to the street, but they really didn't seem to know or care about what they were trying to accomplish. Isn't there plow driver school? Boston knows how to do this.

Go back to Boston.

NYC schools opened on time on Monday. Real cities don't have this victims menatlity like DC residents do. Just sayin.

You do know that NYC has five boroughs and not just one. They didn't all open.

And a state government. With a state budget.

Sorry but was it really that much better under Fenty & Snowmaggedon? It wasn't for me. They plowed my street on Sunday. Snowmaggedon and Fenty took days to plow.

My street is not plowed. It is between N. Cap and 1st NW which are plowed. The streets parallel to us are plowed.

The plows skipped our block for some unknown reason. Maybe bc our old ANC commissioner lives here and the new ANC commissioner hates us?!? I don't know but other blocks all around us are plowed. Us, nada.

Get in line with the other people bitching.

Arlington Residents bitching, Fairfax residents bitching, Loudoun Residents bitching. There was a FUCKING blizzard you moron. You sound like an entitled whiny brat.

You think an ANC commissioner is calling the shots here?

Long Island Schools are closed today and yesterday.

I'll let you guess this difference.

Actually NYC is complaining and school busses are not getting through. Even NYC is struggling with snow removal. Next?

Stop comparing Boston and ny responses to this area. Taxes are high enough here. I don't want to pay for capital investment in equipment that will dry rot between now and the next big storm.

All I know is that all the surrounding blocks are plowed and we have not been plowed at all.

Makes no sense that the plows skipped us... And it seems deliberate.
