Bank of America decided it detected "unusual activity" on my debit card

BOA is bunch of bad guys but not for declining your card.
I would never go out grocery shopping with only 1 card. It's been awhile since my cards were declined- I'm too predictable.
Use a credit card. I bet they debit cards are declined more often to protect your cash.
Amex and Chase both have declined my card at one time or another. Discover has never let me down. Love Discover. Maybe bad guys don't want to steal the numbers since there are still places in the world they don't accept it.
In US, most places take it nowadays.

I use my debit card so much it is red hot. They change the number every six months or so. The people over at BoA are pretty nice, but it is a pain. They pointed out however that ALL of the money in our checking account could be taken in 10 secs, so that is why ...

So that is why you shouldn't use your debit card. Why are people still using debit cards for purchases??

Because some people do not have good credit to get credit cards.
