| I did not go to Stanford, but I went to another school with lots of nobel laureates and prestigious faculty members. I loved it there, but I would never judge a school on the basis of those facts. The number of nobel laureates really does not have any effect on the typical student. As they look at colleges, kids should consider the reputation but also look at where they'll be happiest and most successful as students. The two smartest kids I know passed on the Ivies to go to Swarthmore and Amherst, and it turned out to be a great decision. Those top schools are all terrific, but fit really matters. |
