Are 50+ women happier alone?

I am 64 and have been Married for 44 years, mostly happily, yet I too would never remarry. That being said I recently was diagnosed with cancer and my DH has risen to the occasion. He has cared for me in a very loving way, as have my three daughters, all of whom took time form their careers and families to help during and after surgery. My grandchildren bring me such joy. They boost my spirits everyday. My personal bottom line is that I am glad I made the concessions I did to keep my marriage and our family together. But if it comes to pass, I will adjust to being a widow, and will enjoy making my own decisions.
