It was not one isolated rowdy party. That program (of which there were many Landon kids on the roster) was guilty of a lot of boorish, unchecked behavior for years.
And we haven't even talked about Huguely yet. |
| Landon breeds boorish behavior!!!! |
Actually, they were lacrosse players - there was a lot of checking.
That aside, are you now going to suggest that Duke and UVA are full of punks, as well, and that they should be shut down, too? |
And the more exclamation points you use in a post that provides no evidence or support for your position, the more true it must be!!!!!!!! So there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| I have to say that having grown up here in DC, Landon has never had a strong reputation. It was always a school where wealthy families could send their sons, who would otherwise not have a chance at any of the better top tier DC schools (i.e. STA and Sidwell.) I believe it's an easy school to get into, and I think many families are happy there. |
Fascinating. On the one hand you're putting Landon in the top tier (where it has been in DC for a very long time), and on the other you're disparaging it. I'd hate to see what you have to say about all of the non-top tier schools and the kids who go there. When I was growing up in DC Landon and St. Albans considered each other rivals, with Prep up and coming. Sidwell was considered a good school, but one that was a little less traditional in its methods and focused on kids who were exceptional at one thing, while the other IAC schools tended to have more well-rounded students. I knew some legacies at St. Albans who definitely fit the profile you just described, and some at Landon, Prep and Sidwell, too. Most of the kids who the PP would describe as "punks" ended up at boarding school, and when they came home for holidays you realized how nice life was when they weren't around. Perhaps that has changed. |
| Landon is not considered a top tier academic school. Please. |

''The accusations against the Duke lacrosse players were a total fabrication. She, the accuser, selected the targets randomly from pictures she was shown by the now disgraced prosecutor.
These young men were falsely accused and were shown to be completely innocent. The crime of these Landon boys and the others --- in the mind of the critics --- is they attended a rowdy college party. I'm not a big Landon fan, but attempting to to tar Landon with this brush says more about the person doing it than it does Landon. '' THEY HIRED STRIPPERS. I know its hard to believe but thats not the kind of behavior that is accepted by graduates of other schools in the ara |

Landon is not for everyone (is any school?). It’s also true that not everyone associated with the school loves it, but most do. There is something very special about Landon, but as the Washington Post used to say “if you don’t get it, you don’t get it.” It is fruitless to try to change the opinions of those who don’t get it. I wish them all well in their school search and beyond. Like the white rocks on Wilson Lane, Landon will be around long after we all are gone. |
Do you know who among the lacrosse players hired the strippers? For all you know the Landon grads might have been against the idea and were outvoted. Or maybe it done by one or two boys on their own initiative. Who knows? You don't and that's for sure. Any fair minded person would recognize this accusation as unfounded and scurrilous. You behavior is disgusting. |
Yeah, when your son is in college, and his team has a rowdy party, your son is going to be the one who stands up and says, "Fella, gosh darn it, this is just inappropriate behavior for young men of our socio-economic status." Let me know how that works out for him.

13:53 again -
Just to be clear, I'm not in favor of, or excusing, hiring strippers for a party. It was a bad decision and the consequences for the boys involved ended up far outweighing the stupidity of their decision. However, young people do stupid things. Being in peer pressured groups enables young people to go along with stupid things. Hiring strippers for a club team party is a stupid thing, but it is the kind of stupid thing that tends to gain momentum in the planning, until no one could stop it even if they wanted to, because no one wants to be the lone dissenting voice. |
In the AA community, this is exactly what we expect of our sons because they will be the first accused and the first to go to jail or shot. |
Or your son could have been taught morals at home and opted out of that gathering. |
