You realize that you can enjoy a book or tv show or movie without worrying about the political implications, yes? |
Well, no, actually, usually I can't. I guess that you can, though. |
I don't know. I'm from Georgia and found the movie boring and overly dramatic and waaay too long. Haven't even read the book. I did see a recent article about how almost every adult in North Korea has read it, though, and it's become a big thing there. |
How sad for you that you can only see the world through politics. |
I'm quite happy. But thanks for your concern. |
I gather you are being sarcastic. Books are portable magic as per Stephen King. I'm not a book snob. Outlander got me through a flat on my back period in a pregnancy. Flat on my back is a level beyond bed rest. Think bed pan. http://www.booktrust.org.uk/books/writing/online-writer-in-residence/blog/558/ |
OP, it's because most of us haven't had an epic romance on the scale of Rhett and Scarlet. |
No way. Casablanca is my favorite movie of all time. |
No, I wasn't being sarcastic -- I apologize. I was just marveling at the idea of Gone With The Wind, Dr. Zhivago, and Outlander, all on the same list. |
Love GWTW! Book and movie. I read it for the first time with I was 12 and it was the first long novel I ever read and I remember loving it so much, I read it in one week. I would take it to school and read it during classes - probably that is the reason I am not good at math! lol
I hated the ending, but I guess it was appropriate given the characters. |
Duh. Because it is an incredible page turner. You really think Scarlett and her ilk come off in a sympathetic light? |
DP here. I'm very political and strongly left-liberal but I think it's okay to enjoy a film which has political implications with which you disagree. But different strokes for different folks. Not everyone sees the world the way I do. |
Yeah but can you imagine Rhett and Scarlet dealing with the annoyances and stresses of everyday life??? They'd be on DCUM in five minutes complaining about how their spouse is overly dramatic and angry and just plain mean. |
Thanks. All have epic romances and history. I also like Helprin's A Winter's Tale, Michener Centennial, Uris Trinity& Exodus. Go to reads for airplane travel are my fav DC detective Alex Cross. And yes I was disconcerted with Morgan Freeman and Medea playing my fav character in film. |
+1000000000000000 and after Kenya Moore used this phrase then Beyonce copied and used it after "her failed football concert". |
