GW vs. Columbia for IVF?

Anonymous
This is 15:25. Dr. Gindoff was actually my RE for 6 months not just a consult. I didn't mind him but went to sgf for a second opinion and ended up doing an IVF with them. I am considering Abassi because we are Dx unexplained and I want to explore immune issues. Our IVF and all monitored natural cycles plus on clomid plus fsh cycle continue to indicate that everything is perfect! It's driving me insane. Our first IVF was done on 34 year old eggs (I turned 35 two days before retrieval). I oscillate between staying at sgf for one more cycle since we did so well on the antagonist protocol vs switching clinics and possible starting a whole different protocol (possibly long lupron). I am super confused and super stressed as a result.

Cat (at GW) was "ok" but the nurses at CFA (Bethesda) were GREAT!!! Prefer Abbasi to Frankfurter, too.

I liked her, but I have a very strong personality and we got along. I don't really gel with the sweetie pie nurses who say everything is roses and cupcakes (because lets face it, they aren't). I can definitely see someone not liking her personality...but she's a great fertility nurse. Knowledgable and hardworking.

I LOVED Catherine! I appreciate honesty over anything else and this is what I got from her. She's also incredibly funny and always made me laugh during an extremely rough period and basically got me through my cycles to be honest. I would have made it through without her, but it was significantly easier with her. There are different personalities in this world and some you mesh with and some you don't, that's why there are always options to change nurses.

+1 She's not sugary sweet but she and I clicked. I wouldn't have made it without her either.

RE Dr. ABASSI WAS MY ANGEL, EVEN THOUGH I HAD A SUCCESSFUL PREGNANCY WITH MY TRIPLETS . I DID EXPERIENCE A MISCARRIAGE PRIOR FOUR MONTHS BEFORE ON MOTHER'S DAY IN 2009. DR.ABASSI /STAFF WAS PHENOMENAL WITH SUPPORTING MYSELF AND DH. SO, TO THE MORON WHO THOUGHT MY SITUATION WAS A FAILURE, IT WAS A BLESSING I LOST TWO AND GAIN THREE HEALTHY BOYS. BABY A 5LBS, BABY B 3 .6OZ, BABY C 4LBS 2oz and delivered at 36 weeks. SO, LADIES I 'VE BEEN WHERE U ARE AND I AM EXAMPLE THAT JUST A LITTLE MUSTARD SEED A FAITH YOUR DREAM WILL COME TRUE.

Regardless of where you end up, do your research on fertility treatments and what is "normal." I was a patient at CFA; I really liked the dr there, but I was little concerned about the high amount of meds I was on given my sensitivity to medication. I sought a second opinion from two different fertility clinics, and I was told that CFA's approach was reckless given my response rate. I ended up at SG. Sure, the drs there don't have a great bedside manner, but I felt better physically than I did when at CFA and it worked.

Who was your RE @ CFA?

I can't seem to get info from the finance folks at CFA on what my oop costs would be under my insurance for an IVF with them. Have others had this problem? This is usually info. I receive at the first/initial consult where one sits down with the finance folks after meeting with the docs...
