Montgomery County's most academically challenging private schools

14:57 I call BS, there's no way you're a new poster. You've been stalking Feynman School here since 2010, possibly longer. Why?

Anonymous wrote:13:02 your reply makes little sense. Feynman parents are actually pretty laid-back, I would bet moreso than those at most other schools that regularly get lambasted on this forum. But they are very enthusiastic about their DCs' school. One family with two sibs at Feynman actually bought a new home this year in order to be closer to the school. Many of the parents volunteer because they believe they are helping to create something extraordinary for children who would be (and in most cases were) bored at their old school. So when someone posts an uninformed smear such as "...I don't think it's really a school for gifted. It's meant to be a school where parents who like to think their kids are gifted send them," parents are likely to engage in what you derisively call "boosterism". Actually, the MSDE refers young gifted students to Feynman, as do several DC-area educational psychologists, WPPSI administrators and pediatricians. The school follows NAGC best practices for admissions, curriculum and programming. If getting the facts right bothers you, please feel free to ignore the posts. tia

And that's all for now from the Director of Admissions at Feynman. Now back to our regularly scheduled thread discussion.

I'm sorry you feel the need to make that accusation. If you'd like, you can ask Jeff to check the logs and confirm 14:57 was my very first post on this thread.

In the past, I've posted positive comments about Feynman and defended the school from detractors, based on a very pleasant discussion I had with the Golds when they were just starting the school, and on my respect for what they were hoping to accomplish. I've also posted to question some of the exaggerated claims of overly enthusiastic Feynman supporters. I try to take the same balanced approach for other schools and topics too.

There are plenty of other people who have posted criticism of Feynman on DCUM. Maybe you're incorrectly assuming it's just one person.

But aside from all that, I really do think it would be best to move along and not re-argue the past. Can't we even agree to do that?

Rereading this thread, the pro-Feynman poster is generally on topic. Just my 2 cents. Any other MoCo private schools not mentioned above to consider?

Ummm -- people are so strange here...they make stuff about schools which they have no knowledge about. For anyone to assert that Holton doesn't have excellent math/science has absolutely no knowledge of it. They're the only private h.s. to have an engineering program. The supposed mom + her DD who alleged to have go to HAS are B.S.

I'm 13:02. I haven't posted anything negative about the Feynman School either, and I too suggest you ask the moderator to verify this - although I'm pretty sure he has better things to do than go back over a year's worth of posts.

I was trying to be helpful and I'm sorry you're taking well-intentioned advice the wrong way.

What about the Poolesville magnets?

Poolesville? Blair? GDS? All challenging programs with outstanding STEM, but aren't we discussing MoCo private schools here?
Anonymous
Not to mention that Poolesville and Blair are test-in programs, and very competitive to get into.
