Questions about Crossway Community Montessori - public charter school?

Do not send your child to this school. The information here is very outdated. As of June 1,2015, HOC will no longer be in partnership with Crossway Community, meaning all current residents must take their voucher and move out by July 31, 2015. The Montessori School is not affiliated with HOC, so that will remain open. The current attendance of the school is 45 students. About half of those students come from the parents/residents of the Crossway Community residential program. Tuition is either paid fully out of pocket from parents, or partial payment and partial Child Cubsidy from the state (which requires the parent to be in school and/or working), or full payment from Child Subsidy from the state (again, the parent must be enrolled in school and/or working). There are NO scholarships. Everyone pays one way or another. The administration used to be picky on whether or not the child has previously attended a Montessori School in the past and prefers to not take children past 3 years old that have had no "Montessori Training". Best case would be to get a child in at three months old. However, this school has been under investigation since 2014 for numerous reports of ill treatment toward the children. If you are desperate for a place to watch your child, now may be your best chance to get in because they are doing their best to keep the doors open despite the changes in the residential program. That being said, be aware of the many allegations (some of them proven) against this school. They are under the radar at the moment for good reason. Do your homework, check out facebook pages, talk to current parents as well. They aren't hard to find. Drop off is from 7:30/8:30am and pick up is at 3pm-6pm. Take a tour and check it out for yourself, but do your home work. Trust me. This is not the best place for your child.

My kids went to Crossway years ago (they are now in high school) and had a wonderful experience. Even then, though, the admin was poor.

I'd be interested to know what kind of ill treatment has happened.

What is HOC?

Do not send your kids to Crossway Montessori Communities school. They do not treat your child well if you start to question on bruise that your child comes home with no incident reports. No to mention that most of the teachers are not following the Montessori education. They are bound by the horrible administration, especially the CEO. Be very aware of this school. I beg you parents that I know for a fact that they do not do proper assessment on your children. I am sorry for once being a part of this school and allowing myself to manipulate the system of Montessori by orders of the staff. I felt awful for a long time, but I grow past this hurt and pain that I suffered by the hands of the CEO. Also, I would like to point more proof by having any parent check out on facebook, Called "The Truth About Crossway Community". There is also an OIG Report against a lot of allegations against this school. Please do your research, this school as bad press for good reason.

You will not find a better or more inexpensive place to send your kids especially if you are using child subsidy voucher to pay.
