I can't help it but when I saw McCain last night, he reminded me so much of Homer Simpson. It actually made his speech fun to listen to

I just thought that we had completely bashed Palin and her mothering and character to a pulp (we do a really good job of this here on DCUMs we should be so proud!). I was just sitting around and thinking that there MUST be some other fault we can find in this woman and when I learned she was breast feeding, I said to myself "UREKA!" we have not yet bastardized this choice of hers I must bring this carcass to the waiting wolves on DCUM, what fun. We have really covered everything Sarah Palin and this little tid bit has been left out.

18:33 brought up something I had NEVER considered she probably NEVER even nursed her child; now THAT is good analysis if I've ever seen it, take notes ladies. Thank you for the talking point, I'm going to use it in my next debate with my one redneck republican friend. I mean she is such a horrible mom, I should have thought of this myself, she definitely does not nurse-NO WAY. I'll take it even farther, I would suppose that she does not even use formula, but uses a recipe of evaporated milk and Karo syrup, just like the old days. I'm sure that's what moms in Alaska do...bless her heart, she does not know any better, because you know those Alaskans are so backwards.

Hey OP - you should'v criticized Palin's hair-do instead of Palin's preference to BF/pump. There was a whole article on Drudge Report about how it is 20 years out of style and it would be a much more interesting post.

A better thing to bash her about if you are still looking for nit-picking and have nothing better to do is to talk about Palin's eye glasses - apparently similar models are selling like hot cakes.

I think I read a while back (has it only been a week?) that she purposely chose dowdy glasses and hair to combat the "Governor Hotty" mentality.

What does being a mother or not being a mother have to do with your qualifications to be Vice President of the United States anyway? I'm so sick of even hearing about this woman's family, particularly her 17 yo kid.

She is such a MILF. With that 1990's Van Halen "Hot For Teacher" look going on. It says, "I'm serious, but so hot, so do not fuck with me."

Let's start making catty comments about McCain. I wish he'd use a little self-tanner. He looks like he already has one foot in the grave.

Given the past history with skin cancer maybe ANY color scares him, although he could borrow some tan from Cindy no problemo and she would still be orangey bronze. I am surprised LA Tans hasn't flown out to tan him up with the spray tan machines.

How is her baby supposed to bond. She just makes me sick. What kid of mother is she? Is that really the kind of wretched wench we want in the white house?

I have 4 words JOAN CRAWFORD's WIRE HANGER!

I think you are judgemental and have no basis to say what you are saying. Everyone's circumstances are different.

For me, Sarah Palin is an incredible role model, inspiration and example to me. My husband and I both strive together to be great parents and great at our careers. Our kids do well at school, are loving and loved by their peers and teachers. So far, so good.

On breastfeeding: I pumped for 6 months for my first child and breastfed (no pumping) my second for 15 months. Again, every circumstance is different.

We do not have enough role models who take on the challenges to which we aspire, so it is wonderful to see the Palin family!

What sold you most? Her flip-flopping? Her flip-flopping and then lying about it? Obtaining millions in earmarks for her town? Slashing funding for teen moms? Being anti-equal pay? Or maybe, like MCain's faughter, you just think she has cool shoes? Man, she IS a role model! I could go on, but gee willikers, that's enough.

NEWSFLASH: What you find so appealing and inspirational is a narrative being spun and sold to you by the masterful Republican Party. All they've got is narrative, so they are going to beat that horse until it is beyond dead.

I could give two shits about this woman's personal life; get a real reason to support her beyond her fuc*king family. People too ignorant enough to actually do some research and make an informed decision are ruining this country for everyone.

1.Obtaining ear marks for one's town is what mayors, council members, and governors DO. They are just working the system like everyone else and their constituents EXPECT it. We will all be in a lot of local pain if ear marks go away it is how the MAJORITY of federal funding reaches the local level. Please learn about ear marks before you start rambling.
2. Please refer to the following post about the funding for teen moms, posted by someone who has skills in analysis. Its one of the most intelligent posts posted to DCUM thus far on this topic. Do your self a favor and look beyond the Washington Post and get an original idea. http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/90/25121.page see poster 21:12 if you are interested in the truth (which I doubt)

It's also what Senators DO. But not John. And, according to John, not Sarah. Someone who works the system is not how SP has been advertised. Remember, the world shook when he announced his choice!

Absolutely. So she should have promoted herself as someone who successfully brought home the dollars to her town rather than as someone who would fight earmarks. I'm not the pp who posted this but my problem with her is that she is misrepresenting herself.

You people act like this is your first rodeo. Haven't most of us been on this planet for a near half century, ever sit in a political science class? They all reinvent themselves. They are politicians!

I'm snickering at all of the indignation.

That's not "indignation", it's just our snickering at the hypocrisy of Mr Straight Talk doing the same old Washington two (faced)-step. Yes, I'm sure you can come up with examples of Obaman hypocrisy. Can you honestly say you just shrug and say nothing when you see it?

I confess to the inconsistency of pleading for serious discussion in some postings, and then jumping into the fun and games in other postings. Perhaps we should have "No Snarking" sections.

Okay, can't win your argument through the facts so you're resorting to condescension. Unimpressive.

But let's run with it anyway. So you're fine with the politicians lying to you all the time? Are all lies okay then? Does a politician ever lie too much? How about if that politician claims to be honest, a "straight talker" and opposed to earmarks? If we expect all politicians to lie, I guess we should expect that McCain and Palin are lying both about their records and their intentions once they get in the White House. So why should I vote for them since it turns out that their presentation of themselves is only a cynical reworking of their personal stories? After all, their whole message is that they're honest -- but you're telling me that they're not. Mr. Straight Talker is now Mr. Cynic.

Really sad. He was supposed to be different. What happened to him?

Exactly! I figured that if I snark at you , it's only fair to admit it and take a shot myself.

If that's not what you meant, then I guess I'm just going around in circles. Trig functions are also called circular functions in math. That, of course, is irrelevant, but as Groucho might have said, if you're going to talk about irrelevance, you should let the donkeys in too.

Snicker, snicker.
