How long do Viking ranges and Sub zero refrigerators last

Anonymous
We bought a house with similar appliances—all Viking. The only one I love and not needing repair is the range and hood. The microwave and dishwasher were replaced at 6 years of age. The oven we’ve had repaired twice, the frig 3 times and it has spots in the refrigerator that still freeze food in the top shelf. The door that releases the ice will not open (for the past two years. The part costs $700 for the part even though it makes ice, crushes it, puts it in the shoot, the water works and light. It’s been a frustrating experience. We’ve sunk a lot of money into products I will not chose again. If you do buy the house, know it’s not a cheap repair.

our sub-zero is 22 years old and now one element is giving out and can't get parts. Still works though.

The OP posted in 2012 so it's probably been resolved at this point!
