You have to be kidding. Nobody uses Coach bags anymore. They are 5-10 years ago. Seriously. I'm not trying to be b*tchy but, even in DC, people who know anything about fashion know better than to carry Coach. |
Ha! I've always thought this!! |
When I was in High School I loved to wear logo clothing, but now I don't like to give free advertising to these companies. Also, I guess I do think it's the ultimate in conspicuous consumption. It's not really my style. When I see people with giant logos on their clothing I just think they want me to think they have a lot of money to spend. I tend to think people are buying knock-offs, so it doesn't really have an impact on my and why would I care anyway? |
Great. Now I'm totally embarrassed. DH got me a Coach purse for my b-day. Paid about $380 for it. Little C's all over it, though it is a really pretty summer bag. Great to know that I now scream fashion victim ![]() |
Give me a break. If YOU love your Coach bag, don't listen to the wenches on this forum. Logos, etc. totally depends on the bag/shoe. |
I know plenty of people that still carry Coach Bags. When compared to other bags they are well made and last forever which is why I enjoy my Coach Bag so much. You people need to get over yourselves. OP if you like the shoes buy them and wear them proud Girl !!! |
Try a Botkier. You'll never look back. |
just because they're expensive doesn't mean they aren't low class. It's amazing what some idiots will pay for a brand-name. I don't mean Coach bags -- I think they are quality and I can understand someone wanting a sturdy, nicely-made handbag. And if you can reasonably afford it, of course.
But I find the people who don't have two nickels to rub together are often the ones sporting the name-brand clothing. We have relatives -- young and dumb...girl gets knocked up, not married, barely finished HS, no skills, crappy min. wage jobs. But do they want our hand-me-down clothes? Oh no, this kid is dressed in Polo and Tommy Hilfiger. And it isn't from TJ Maxx. |
why advertise for these companies? I would only wear something with a logo if I were getting paid for being a bill board. I love nice cloths and think they are worth the $ for the quality, but not if it means I have the logo splashed across for all to see. Tacky |
I have a few purses I love - mostly Isabella Fiore. But I also have more than one Coach bag (I cut the little tag off, btw). I buy only the things I really love, and I have such a visceral reaction to conspicuous consumption that I doubt I will ever want logo bags. And I can easily afford them and see women in my social circle with them all the time. I just think they companies should be paying me to advertise rather than the other way around.

I'm not sure what's worse - the post saying Coach is sooooo passe, or the one then expressing shame for something she had previously really liked. Fascinating. Anyhoo - Coach is a classic. Always will be. That's why it's still there. Just depends on your taste. I personally think Botkier bags are atrocious. |
Oh wow. Ticky tacky. How about the fringed turquoise one? |
As someone who designs logos, I would wear logo clothing if it is a nice logo. For purses, I think it depends on how the logo is used. If it is used as a nice subtle finishing touch, then yes. Personally, I tire of seeing the 9 West and Coach logos used as the fabric print, but only because I see them everywhere, everyday, on every other woman. Personally I like the Juicy logo, but can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on myself. I like the Baby Phat logo, but not the apparel (I'm a cat lover). I used to sport the DKNY logo years ago, but now it is played out. These days the only logos I wear are Nike and Zumba clothing. |
